6 Lunch Features We’re Trying Out at Our Destin Beach Hotel

If you’ve stayed at Henderson Park Inn before, you know that a daily picnic style lunch is included with your stay. In the past, we’ve offered Honeybaked Ham pre-packed lunches, and for the past year or so, we’re been offering sandwiches and salads featuring Boar’s Head deli meats and cheese.

But, we, at Henderson Park Inn, constantly strive to make our guests’ experiences better. So, with Chef Joe Marlow and Chef Greg Dupas at the helm, we’re working towards making the lunch at our Destin beach hotel the best one in the area.

With that being said, our chefs have been offering different lunch features each day to find out which options our guests like the best. Here are a few they’ve tried so far:

1. Blackened Mahi Sandwich

Inspired by the large amount of fresh, gulf seafood offered around our Destin beach hotel, Chef Greg made a delicious fish sandwich, featuring fresh blackened mahi mahi with tomato, red onion, spring mix and a lemon aioli on a brioche bun.

2. Cuban Sandwich

Chef Joe loves a good Cuban sandwich, so using Boar’s Head high-quality ham and house-roasting some mojo pork tenderloin, he created our own Cuban with swiss cheese, dill pickles and dijonnaise on a Gambino’s French loaf.

3. Mahi Spinach Salad

We have three salads on the menu at our Destin beach hotel, but we’ve never had one that featured seafood. And with so much wonderful seafood in our area, Chef Joe felt this had to be an option. This classic spinach salad features cherry tomatoes, red onion, goat cheese, walnuts and, of course, spinach topped with a piece of fresh mahi mahi and balsamic vinaigrette.

4. Fried Green Tomato BLT

Who doesn’t love a good BLT? And with Chef Greg’s delicious southern fried green tomatoes, applewood smoked bacon and house-made Cajun remoulade sauce with spring mix, this has been a huge hit.

5. Fried Shrimp Poboy

With Chef Greg’s Louisiana roots, we couldn’t not have a poboy offered at our Destin beach hotel. All on a classic French loaf, fresh fried shrimp, spring mix, tomato, red onion and Cajun remoulade meld together to create a delicious seafood-focused lunch option.

6. Mahi Tacos

When we first began discussing new lunch options, Chef Joe’s first thought was fish tacos, and with an abundance of delicious seafood in our area, the mahi tacos were a perfect fit. Chef Joe and Greg top flour tortillas with fresh mahi mahi, island slaw, pico de gallo and a touch of chipotle aioli to create this delicious Destin beach hotel lunch option.

While we’re still working out which of these limited, featured options are the most popular, we’re hoping that we’ll be able to carve out a place for ourselves as one of the best Destin beach hotels to offer lunch. And don’t worry, if you’ve loved our lunches of the past, you’ll still be able to order off our regular lunch menu, just with a new daily featured option.
