4 Helpful Tips for Getting Married in Destin FL
Destin, Florida is one of the nation’s most popular spots for a destination wedding! Located along the gorgeous Emerald Coast, Destin is famous for its white sand beaches and sparkling green water. With its majestic scenery and charming atmosphere, Destin provides the perfect backdrop for any ceremony and reception. To help you plan your big day on the Gulf Coast, the Henderson Park Inn has put together four helpful tips for getting married in Destin FL.
1. Research Destin’s Climate
Before you get your heart set on having your wedding during a particular time of year, it’s important to do a little research on Destin’s climate. While the Emerald Coast remains very comfortable throughout the year, there are significant changes in temperature from season to season. Here is a quick look at the average highs and lows in Destin in each month:
- January – 61, 45 °F
- February – 63, 47 °F
- March – 68, 53 °F
- April – 74, 60 °F
- May – 82, 68 °F
- June – 87, 75 °F
- July – 89, 77 °F
- August – 89, 76 °F
- September – 86, 72 °F
- October – 79, 63 °F
- November – 70, 54 °F
- December – 62, 47 °F
As you can see, it’s possible to have an outdoor wedding in Destin throughout the year, but if you’re looking for a tropical climate, you will probably want to stick to the late spring, summer and early fall.
2. Make Sure You Leave Time to Get Your Marriage License
As you plan your wedding, be sure to factor in time to obtain your marriage license. To get a marriage license in Florida, both the bride and groom must appear at a courthouse in the state and pay a fee of $93.50. If you or your partner is a Florida resident, there is a three-day waiting period before you get married. However, there is no waiting period for couples who do not reside in the state of Florida. Once you have your valid license, you must have your wedding ceremony within the next 60 days.
3. Consider a Sunset Wedding
Getting married in Destin FL at sunset provides a number of advantages. Obviously, the setting sun adds to the romantic ambiance of your beach wedding. From a logistical standpoint, sunset also offers the ideal lighting and temperature for your ceremony. When the sun goes down, you don’t have to worry about the intense summer sun getting in your eyes or making your guests uncomfortably hot.
