One of our favorite things about vacationing in Destin, Florida is how affordable it is. Of course, there are plenty of opportunities to spend money on shopping and fine dining in town, but you don’t need to have a ton of cash to have fun on the Emerald Coast.

1. Explore Henderson Beach State Park

2. Visit the Destin History & Fishing Museum
Taking a trip to the Destin History & Fishing Museum is another one of our favorite inexpensive things to do in Destin FL. Tracing Destin’s evolution from its early days as a small fishing village to its current status as a major tourist destination, this excellent museum features historic boats and fishing equipment, 5,500 square feet of exhibit space, and more than 75 mounts of locally caught fish. Admission to the museum is $5 for adults and $4 for seniors and those with a military discount.
3. Watch the Wildlife from Okaloosa Island Pier
Overlooking the Gulf of Mexico, the Okaloosa Island Pier is a wonderful spot for observing some of the Emerald Coast’s signature wildlife. The pier is famous for its sea turtles, which often swim close enough for visitors to take phenomenal photos of these incredible creatures. Other animals that are known to frequent the pier include dolphins, herons, porpoises, sharks, jellyfish, and manta ray. Admission to the Okaloosa Island Pier is just $2 per person.
4. Enjoy Wine Tasting at Chan’s
Chan’s Wine Bar is a great place to sample some of the best wines on the Emerald Coast. For a superb deal, head over to The Wine Bar during their daily happy hour (11 a.m – 6 p.m.) to enjoy a carafe of wine for the price of a glass.
