5 Interesting Facts about Beach Walk Café

At Henderson Park Inn, just about everything you need for a relaxing adult-only stay is included with your room with the exception of one key thing—dinner. We know our guests want the opportunity to dine at Destin’s best restaurants, but we also wanted to offer our guests a convenient option that is just steps from their room. As our award-winning in-house restaurant, Beach Walk Café is the best of both worlds. With that being said, here are five interesting facts about Beach Walk Cafe:

1. The executive chef was born and raised in Destin

While Executive Chef Daniel Peters gained the bulk of his culinary experience in Napa Valley, he was born and raised in Destin, Florida, giving him the ultimate amount of knowledge about true local ingredients and flavors.

2. It was initially started by Chef Tim Creehan

Locally renowned Chef Tim Creehan, who has opened a number of successful restaurants along the emerald coast, originally opened Beach Walk Café just down the road from where it now sits, and in 2009, he moved the location inside Henderson Park Inn and eventually sold the business to the owners of the inn. You can still order some of his original menu items that use his original recipe, like the Grouper Vince.

3. The executive chef studied under multiple celebrity chefs

Not too long before he returned from Napa Valley to be closer to his family, Chef Daniel Peters mentored under the guidance of James Beard Award-Winning and Michelin-Star Chef Douglas Keane and globally renowned Top-Chef-contestant Sang Yoon. He uses much of what he learned from them on Beach Walk Café’s current menu.

4. It offers a unique beach dining experience

One of the most unique experiences at Beach Walk Café is its Toes in the Sand dining option. Guests dine directly on the beach with their toes in the sand and access to a dedicated server. It’s one of the most popular places to get engaged or to celebrate a special occasion. To learn more about this VIP dining experience, visit Beach Walk Café’s website.

5. You don’t have to stay at the inn to dine at Beach Walk Café

We at Henderson Park Inn get this question a lot, and during the height of the COVID pandemic, Beach Walk Café was open to only guests of the inn and Henderson Beach Resort. However, Beach Walk Café now remains open to the public. Still, the restaurant has continued to limit the number of guests it serves each evening, so with this limited availability, tables fill up fast. Be sure to make your reservation well in advance to ensure you’re able to secure a table.

If you’re ready to book your table at Beach Walk Café, call 850-650-7100 to leave a message with your preferred date and time, and a reservationist will call you to confirm your space. Beach Walk Café books up quickly, so be sure to call well in advance.
