Published on July 7, 2021
At Henderson Park Inn, we know our guests well, and with that being said, we know that there are plenty of guests that love the game of golf. And, thankfully, the inn is located near a number of options for golf courses in Destin FL. Some are the closest ones to the inn. Some have the best views, but here are our top picks for golf courses in Destin FL:
1. Kelly Plantation Golf Club
Located just around the corner from Henderson Park Inn, the Kelly Plantation Golf Club offers challenging play among stunning coastal scenery. Designed by Fred Couples and Gene Bates, this course winds through the miles of what was once a turpentine plantation and features more than 7,000 yards of manicured fairways, contoured greens, strategically placed hazards and incredible views of the bay.
2. Regatta Bay Golf Club
Regatta Bay is another course just down the road from the inn that boasts spectacular views of nature along the Choctawhatchee Bay, and it’s a course that’s suitable for all skill levels. It was designed by Robert C. Walker, who was the former lead architect for Arnold Palmer. He designed it with the natural vegetation in mind to seamlessly blend hazards into the course. If that hasn’t sold you, you can always take a virtual tour of the course before heading over on their website.
3. Indian Bayou Golf & Country Club
Also located just a short drive from the inn is Indian Bayou, and this golf club is home to two different courses: Seminole Course and Choctaw Course. The two are some of the best golf courses in Destin FL, and each poses their own challenges. The Seminole Course features wide fairways, water features and a variety of pin placements that reward accuracy. For the Choctaw Course, distance and control are rewarded. Indian Bayou’s website offers tips and tricks for each of the holes if you want to study up before booking your tee time.
4. The Links Golf Club
The Links Golf Club features views that alone make it one of the best golf courses in Destin FL. Five of its holes run along the Choctawhatchee Bay, and it was designed by renowned architect, Tom Jackson. It’s said to be the ultimate risk-reward golf in that accuracy and proper club selection are key to combating the Gulf Coast winds.
5. Emerald Bay Golf Club
A man playing golf as the sun sets. This golf course recently underwent an entire renovation. The original designer, Bob Cupp, returned to oversee a major redesign of the course, and it turned out spectacularly. The course has a distinct motif with landmarks similar to older courses and water hazards familiar to the coastal area, but it has a subtle consistency that allows for players of all levels.
And, if none of these courses intrigue you, that’s ok. We have wonderful guest service agents at Henderson Park Inn that can help personally match you to what you’re looking for.
